Heat management is critical for desert suspension. Extended high-speed riding generates enormous heat in shock absorbers, causing fluid to thin and damping to fade. We set up desert suspension with proper fluid volumes, reservoir configurations, and damping settings that maintain consistent performance throughout a long ride. For serious desert machines, we recommend shocks with external reservoirs and bypass tubes for maximum heat capacity.
Rock crawling and technical terrain demand maximum suspension articulation — the ability for each wheel to travel independently to maintain traction on uneven surfaces. This requires softer spring rates than desert setups, along with damping tuned for slow-speed control rather than high-speed impact absorption.
For Jeep builds focused on rock crawling, we configure suspension for maximum droop travel, proper bump stop engagement, and sway bar disconnect systems that allow full articulation on the trail. For rock-focused UTVs, we adjust preload, compression, and rebound to keep all four tires planted on uneven surfaces while maintaining enough support to prevent the chassis from dragging on obstacles.

Ride height is the foundation of your suspension — it determines ground clearance, tire fitment, suspension travel distribution, alignment angles, driveline angles, and overall handling. Leveling kits eliminate factory rake and create clearance for larger tires; lift kits raise the whole vehicle. Either way, incorrect ride height cascades into alignment problems, premature component wear, driveline vibration, and compromised handling.
After every install we verify ride height at multiple points, check side-to-side symmetry, and confirm suspension travel in both compression and droop. For trucks and Jeeps with adjustable coilover systems, we dial in the exact target by adjusting spring preload — typically setting static sag around 30–40% of total travel. For UTVs, ride height is adjusted through shock preload, spring selection, and limit strap configuration. Sagging springs get replaced with OEM or upgraded units, add-a-leaf packs, or replacement coilovers depending on the platform.
Geometry correction goes beyond basic alignment. When a vehicle's suspension is modified, the factory-designed geometry changes — and no amount of alignment adjustment alone can fix it. We address caster and camber (adjustable upper control arms on trucks; adjustable control arms on Jeep solid axles), pinion and driveline angle (adjustable control arms, pinion shims, differential drop kits) to eliminate driveline vibration at highway speed, and CV joint operating angles to prevent clicking, vibration, and repeated CV failure on lifted trucks and UTVs.
We also correct steering geometry — dropped pitman arms, adjustable drag links, high-steer kits, and correct-length tie rods sized to the modified ride height. On Jeeps, this eliminates the bump steer that makes a lifted rig dart left or right when hitting bumps. Lifting a truck changes the operating angles of nearly every suspension and drivetrain component.
