    Engine Diagnostics in Washington UT

Check engine light diagnostics for any make and model. We read the code, trace it to the cause, and repair the cause.

Modern vehicles generate hundreds of diagnostic codes. A code tells you where a fault registered — not what caused it. On automotive platforms we run OEM factory-level scan tools — the same depth of access the dealer has — so we can view live module data and access functions a generic OBD reader can't reach. That is what lets us trace the symptom to the root cause instead of clearing a code and putting you back in the same seat two weeks later.

    What We Diagnose

    Check Engine Light

Solid or flashing — we scan, read pending and history codes, and diagnose from data, not guesswork.

    Misfires & Rough Idle

Ignition, injector, compression, and vacuum diagnosis. Cylinder-by-cylinder analysis on scope and scan tool.

    Performance Loss

Turbo, boost, fuel trim, and airflow analysis. When power drops, we find why — not just replace parts.

    Fuel System Issues

Fuel pressure, injector balance, lift pump, and high-pressure common rail diagnosis for gas and diesel.

    Emissions Problems

EVAP leaks, catalyst efficiency, O2 sensor, and DPF/DEF diagnosis on modern diesels.

    Transmission & Drivetrain Codes

Trans, transfer case, differential, and ABS/traction control code diagnosis on modern integrated systems.

    Our Process

    1

    Scan & Document

Full-system scan capturing all active, pending, and history codes across every module.

    2

    Physical Inspection

Related systems inspected on the vehicle — sensors, wiring, mechanical condition.

    3

    Root-Cause Diagnosis

Symptoms traced back to actual root cause before any parts are recommended or replaced.

    4

    Digital Report

Findings, photos, and repair options delivered to your phone by text or email before work begins.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is a check engine light always serious?

Not always — but it's always worth diagnosing. A steady light means the vehicle logged a fault the ECM considers non-critical, but that same fault can compound into an expensive failure if ignored. A flashing check engine light is serious: it means active misfire, and continuing to drive can destroy the catalytic converter within miles. Either way, get it scanned.

What happens if the scan doesn't show a code?

Plenty of drivability faults never set a code, and plenty of codes point away from the actual failure. That is why the scan is only step one. We inspect the related systems on the vehicle — sensors, wiring, mechanical condition — and read live module data to see what the engine is doing under load. Intermittent misfires and electrical faults are found in that data, not in the code list. You get a written report of what we found either way.

How long does a diagnostic take?

It depends on the fault. A code scan and consultation is straightforward; full root-cause diagnostics on intermittent misfires, electrical faults, or drivability issues take longer to isolate. We quote the diagnostic work up front, your advisor gives you a completion estimate at drop-off, and every diagnostic ends with a written report of what we found.

    Can you diagnose diesel engines?

Yes — Power Stroke, Cummins, and Duramax are core platforms for us. Diesel diagnostics includes glow plug system testing, turbo boost analysis, fuel injection pressure and balance testing, DEF/SCR system diagnosis, and DPF regeneration issues. Diesels need diesel-specific scan tools and diesel-specific technicians — generic OBD readers don't touch what matters.

Why is my engine running rough?

Rough running is usually a misfire (bad coil, plug, or injector), a vacuum leak, or a dirty throttle body. It can also be a clogged fuel filter, a failing MAF sensor, or internal engine wear. Southern Utah dust and heat accelerate air-filter and intake wear specifically. Proper diagnosis identifies the exact cause instead of throwing parts at symptoms.

Do you work on modified engines?

Yes. Aftermarket calibrations, intakes, exhausts, and turbo upgrades are common on the trucks and off-road vehicles we service. We understand how modifications change the ECM's baseline expectations, so we can tell a real fault from a code that is only reporting the modification.
