MST Motorsports performs UTV pre-purchase inspections on used Can-Am, Polaris RZR and Kawasaki KRX side-by-sides in Washington, Utah. Our factory-trained, certified technicians bring more than 80 years of combined experience and run OEM factory scan tools for Polaris and Can-Am. Belt wear, clutch condition, axle damage, frame stress cracks and neglected maintenance are not visible in a listing photo.
What We Inspect
Engine Compression & Oil Condition
Engine compression on every cylinder, and the condition of the engine oil, because internal wear shows there before it shows anywhere else.
CVT Belt & Clutch Condition
Belt wear, glazing, and chunking. Primary and secondary clutch condition, sheave wear, and alignment measurement.
Differential & Drivetrain
Front and rear differential fluid condition, driveshaft u-joints, axle CV boots and driveline play. Discolored fluid indicates water intrusion.
Frame & Cage Integrity
Weld condition, stress cracks around the suspension mounts, and cage attachment points. Prior rollover damage is not always visible, so the frame and cage get the same structural checks we run on a UTV crash repair.
Electrical & Accessory Systems
Charging system, lighting, winch function, radio and switch panels. Aftermarket electrical work is a common source of problems on used UTVs.
Suspension & Wheel Bearings
Shock condition, bushing wear, ball joint and tie rod play, and wheel bearing check. Sand Hollow wears suspension components.
Brake System
Pad and rotor measurement, caliper function, brake fluid condition, and brake line inspection.
Fluid Contamination
Signs of water ingestion, overheating or neglected maintenance. Differential fluid, clutch condition and coolant all indicate how the machine has been used.

How long does a UTV inspection take?

What if the seller won't let me inspect it?
A legitimate seller with a sound machine has no reason to refuse a pre-purchase inspection. We are happy to coordinate the timing with the seller.
What are the most common hidden problems on used UTVs?
The most common findings are worn CVT belts, water-contaminated differentials from unreported water crossings, and frame stress cracks from unreported rollovers. Neglected engine oil that has already caused internal wear is another. All of them are identifiable in a proper inspection.
