    Electrical Diagnostics, Repair & Wiring

Fault Tracing, Accessory Wiring & Harness Service for Off-Road and Daily-Driven Vehicles

MST Motorsports provides electrical diagnostics, repair, and wiring service for cars, SUVs, trucks and UTVs. Electrical problems are some of the most frustrating issues to deal with — intermittent faults, parasitic drains, aftermarket wiring that causes problems months after installation, and sensor failures that put vehicles into limp mode or prevent them from starting altogether.

Our technicians have the diagnostic tools and experience to trace electrical faults methodically, identify the root cause, and repair it properly. We also install and wire aftermarket accessories — lights, winches, switch panels, communication systems — with clean, reliable wiring that won't cause problems down the road.

    Electrical Diagnostics

Modern vehicles — whether they're powersports machines, trucks, or SUVs — rely heavily on electronic control systems. Engine management, transmission control, stability systems, lighting, and accessories all depend on clean power, solid grounds, and intact wiring. When something goes wrong in these systems, the symptoms can range from a check engine light and reduced power to a complete no-start condition, and the sound the vehicle makes when you turn the key narrows down which part of the starting and charging circuit is at fault.

We use scan tools, multimeters, and circuit testing equipment to trace faults to their source. We diagnose the circuit, verify the fault, and then repair it — which matters most on intermittent problems. A stored code names a circuit rather than a failed part, which is why a check engine light needs a diagnosis and not just a code read.

    Accessory Wiring & Correction

We see vehicles — especially UTVs and off-road trucks — that come in with electrical problems caused by poorly installed aftermarket accessories. Spliced wires, improper fuse sizing, missing relays, and bad grounds create circuits that work intermittently, drain batteries, overheat wiring, or fail completely when they're needed most.

We install accessories correctly from the start, and we also fix wiring that was done wrong by someone else. Proper accessory installation includes appropriately sized wiring, correct fusing, dedicated relay circuits where needed, clean connector terminations, and proper routing to protect wires from heat, abrasion, and water intrusion.

    Off-Road & Powersports Electrical

Desert dust and fine sand are the enemies of electrical reliability. On powersports machines that run Sand Hollow regularly, we see corroded connectors, contaminated sensor harnesses, and dust-packed control modules that cause intermittent faults, limp modes, and no-start conditions. Water crossings at the reservoir compound the problem when moisture reaches connectors that weren't designed for submersion.

We address these issues with connector cleaning and restoration, dielectric grease application, harness rerouting where factory placement is inadequate, and proper sealing of vulnerable connections. Preventative attention to the electrical system is especially important for machines that spend time in Sand Hollow's mixed terrain.

    Battery & Charging System Diagnosis

Load test, state-of-health, and parasitic draw testing to find the actual cause of a dead vehicle.

    Alternator Testing & Replacement

Voltage output, diode ripple, and load-under-accessories testing, so the alternator gets replaced when it is the problem.

    Wiring Harness Inspection & Repair

Chafed insulation, corroded connectors, and rodent damage traced against a diagram and repaired with solder and heat-shrink.

    Accessory & Lighting Install

Light bars, rock lights, ditch lights, switches, communication — wired with relays, proper fuses, and OE-quality connectors.

    Fuse & Relay Diagnosis

A blown fuse is a symptom. We find the short or overload behind it and repair that.

    UTV Electrical Troubleshooting

Can-Am, Polaris, and Kawasaki fault patterns — dashboard warnings, no-start, ignition kill, and accessory failures.

    Accessory Installation

Light bars, switches, winches, communication systems, air compressors, and dual battery setups — wired with proper fusing, relays, weatherproof connectors, and routing that survives dust, water, and vibration at Sand Hollow.

    Electrical Service FAQs

Yes. We perform full electrical diagnostics on Polaris RZR, Can-Am Maverick, Kawasaki KRX, and all major UTV platforms — fault codes, wiring harness inspection, sensor testing, and accessory wiring.

Yes. We install Baja Designs, Method Race Wheels lighting packages, light bars, pod lights, and full wiring harnesses with proper fusing and switch panels for UTVs, trucks, and Jeeps.

Yes. Check engine, ABS and traction control faults on any car, truck or SUV, read with shop-grade scan tools.

Yes. We install winches with proper electrical integration, solenoid mounting, and wiring — ensuring your charging system can support the load without draining the battery.

Yes. Aftermarket lighting, audio, and accessory builds often create ground loops, voltage drop, and fuse failures. We diagnose and clean up complex wiring on builds that have grown over time.

In our desert climate, 2–4 years — shorter than the 4–6 years typical in moderate climates. Heat accelerates internal plate corrosion and electrolyte evaporation. We test batteries at service visits and recommend replacement before a failure strands you at Sand Hollow or on I-15.

Yes — parasitic draw is one of our most common electrical requests. Current-clamp testing plus systematic circuit isolation pinpoints the circuit and component pulling power with the vehicle off. That could be a stuck relay, an aftermarket accessory, or a module that won't sleep.

Electrical diagnosis is the one job where the time genuinely cannot be known in advance, because an intermittent fault has to be caught in the act. A blown fuse, a bad ground or a visibly damaged wire shows itself quickly; a CAN-bus fault or a wiring problem that only appears over a bump does not. Your service advisor sets the expectation at drop-off, and we document what we find in your inspection report.
