    Clutch Architecture by Platform

    Each manufacturer builds its CVT differently, and each one responds to tuning changes in its own way. The Polaris RZR Pro R and Turbo R run P90X clutch systems that take specific weight and spring combinations. The Can-Am Maverick X3 and Maverick R use QRS clutches with different calibration points. Kawasaki's KRX 1000 and Teryx platforms have their own clutch architecture and their own serviceability characteristics.

    On turbocharged machines — Maverick X3, RZR Pro XP, Turbo R — the clutch manages substantially higher torque, which makes setup and inspection intervals matter more than they do on a naturally aspirated trail machine. A Ranger XP 1000 on oversized tires usually needs a tire-size correction rather than a full kit. A Can-Am Defender that feels sluggish at low speed is generally an engagement-RPM problem. A KRX eating belts is usually heat and shift-out, not the belt itself.

    Sand Hollow's combination of deep sand, high ambient temps, and sustained wide-open throttle loads the CVT harder than factory clutch settings can handle. We tune Polaris RZR clutches specifically for Southern Utah conditions — altitude, heat, and sand — so the belt runs cooler and lasts longer.

    What's the difference between a clutch tune and a belt replacement?

    A belt replacement swaps the worn belt but doesn't fix the underlying cause of belt failure. A clutch tune recalibrates the primary and secondary — weights, springs, helix — so the belt runs cooler, engages properly, and lasts longer.     Can you upgrade my clutch for better performance?

    Does elevation and terrain change how the clutch should be set up?

    Yes. Sand Hollow sits at roughly 3,200–3,700 feet, and that altitude plus the sand-vs-slickrock load profile and your tire size all change what the clutch should do. Generic online kits don't account for it — we set weights, springs, and helix for how you actually ride here.
