MST Motorsports services Kawasaki KRX machines in Washington, Utah — ten minutes from St. George, fifteen minutes from the Sand Hollow gate. The KRX is a different animal from the other two side-by-side platforms that fill our bays. It drives through a conventional CVT rather than a tuning-heavy primary and secondary arrangement, and it is a heavier machine.
Mass is the theme of KRX ownership. Every pound has to be stopped by the brakes and controlled by the suspension, and both feel it — which is why the shock bench and the suspension lift are where most of our KRX work happens, along with UTV alignment, CVT service and electrical diagnostics.
Shock work is the center of what we do for KRX owners, and it happens on our own bench here in Washington rather than being shipped out. Fox, King, Elka and Walker Evans come apart, get cleaned, re-sealed, re-valved when you want the damping changed, and are nitrogen-charged on site.
Weight is why the KRX asks more of a shock. A heavier machine puts more energy into the damper on every compression, so the oil sees more heat and the valving has more work to do holding the chassis up in the stroke. A shock that felt composed when the machine was new and now packs down through a whoop section, or wallows on the exit of a rocky descent, is usually reporting tired oil, a seal that has started to pass, or valving that was never matched to how the machine is loaded.
Re-valving is where the platform's weight gets addressed properly. We ask what the machine carries — passengers, gear, a spare, a roof, a bumper and winch — and where it runs, then set damping for that rather than for a generic average. The same mass that loads the shocks loads everything the shocks are bolted to. On a KRX we pay close attention to the A-arms and their bushings, ball joints, wheel bearings, tie rod ends and steering components, and to the axles and CV boots — a heavy machine on rock ledges asks a lot of a joint at full articulation.
Brakes deserve the same attention for the same reason. More weight means more heat in the pads and rotors on a long descent, and brake fluid that has absorbed moisture gives up first when the heat arrives. Pad and rotor condition, caliper function, hose condition and fluid are all part of the picture on a machine this size.
UTV alignment ties it together. Toe outside specification scrubs tires and adds steering effort, and a thrust angle that has shifted after an impact means the machine tracks crooked with the wheel straight. We measure it, correct it, and inspect the steering and suspension hardware while the machine is up.
The KRX uses a conventional CVT. There is less calibration surface here than on the platforms built around weights, helixes and ramps, and that is part of the machine's appeal — but the fundamentals still decide belt life. Airflow through the clutch cover, a clean CVT intake filter, sheave condition and clutch alignment do more for a belt on this platform than any parts change.
So CVT service is largely a cleanliness and condition job: inspect the belt and read the wear on it, clean the sheaves, service the CVT intake filter, check clutch alignment, and confirm the cover is sealing so dust stays out. Electrical and drivability work sits with it: charging system testing, sensor and circuit testing, harness and connector repair, lighting, winch and accessory circuits, and the grounds that dust and washboard eventually find.
First service matters. Oil and filter change, torque-check hardware across the drivetrain and suspension, fluid inspection, and belt condition check.
Oil and filter service, air filter (every 25 hours in Sand Hollow dust), CVT filter clean, belt inspection, and grease all fittings.
Front and rear differential fluid, spark plugs, brake fluid, cooling system inspection, and full drivetrain health check.
Major service — coolant service, throttle body clean, valve clearance inspection per Kawasaki spec, and a complete system health check with a photo-documented digital report.
Kawasaki 10W-40 (or approved equivalent) is our default for Southern Utah operating temps. Idle-heavy or heavy-load use may benefit from a shorter drain interval.
The KRX runs a heavy-duty belt, and dust, heat and hard riding still shorten its life. Belt condition, tension and clutch alignment are part of a service visit.
Handled alongside air filter service. A dirty CVT intake filter starves the clutch of cooling airflow, which is a common cause of premature belt wear even on a durable machine.
Suspension and drivetrain bolts get re-checked during service. Sand Hollow vibration and impact loads back off hardware on well-built machines too.

We work from the machine itself — charging system testing, sensor and circuit testing, harness and connector inspection, ground checks, and mechanical diagnosis of the drivetrain and suspension. On a platform where the strength of the work is suspension, brakes and drivetrain condition, that is where most faults are found and confirmed.
Every 50 engine hours or annually, whichever comes first. Kawasaki 10W-40 or an approved equivalent is our default in Southern Utah conditions. Idle-heavy use, heavy-load riding, or hard Sand Hollow sessions may warrant a shorter interval. The break-in service at 50 hours matters, because that first fluid change carries out normal break-in wear metal.
