The current Ford Bronco is a common sight in Southern Utah. Its off-road design suits the red rock at Sand Hollow, the dunes at Warner Valley, and the trails around Washington, St. George, and Hurricane.
A stock Bronco is capable. A few specific upgrades make it more so on the rock ledges and sandy washes here. At MST Motorsports, we set up and service Broncos for the way owners actually use them across Southern Utah.
Lift Kits
The most common upgrade is a Bronco lift kit. A lift changes the stance, but its purpose is ground clearance: it lets the Bronco clear obstacles that would otherwise scrape or damage the undercarriage.

Off-Road Tires
A lift is only useful if the tires hold. Ford Bronco upgrades here usually start with the right set of off-road tires. Southern Utah terrain is a mix of sharp volcanic rock, deep loose sand, and sticky red dirt.
We recommend all-terrain (AT) or mud-terrain (MT) tires with robust sidewalls and aggressive tread patterns. These give more grip in sandy washes, better resistance to punctures from sharp rocks, and improved performance when aired down for maximum contact patch.
Aftermarket Bumpers and Skid Plates
On tight canyon trails and rocky climbs, factory bumpers take damage easily. Aftermarket steel bumpers and skid plates are a practical addition to an off-road Bronco.
Heavy-duty bumpers provide enhanced approach and departure angles, often include integrated winch mounts, and take impacts the factory bumper is not built for. Skid plates safeguard critical components like your oil pan, transfer case, and fuel tank from unseen rocks and debris.
