JK, JL & 4xe platform service — death wobble diagnosis, steering and suspension, lift maintenance, post-lift alignment, and trail readiness for Sand Hollow country.
MST Motorsports provides professional Jeep Wrangler service and repair at 987 S 1900 East in Washington, Utah — minutes from Sand Hollow and a short drive from St George, Hurricane, Santa Clara, Ivins, La Verkin, Leeds, and Virgin. We have been family-owned since 2020, and Wranglers have been part of the daily work here the entire time.
Our factory-trained, certified technicians bring more than 80 years of combined experience, and qualifying automotive repairs are backed by our 36-month/36,000-mile nationwide warranty on parts and labor. That experience matters on a Wrangler, where the solid front axle, the track bar geometry and the platform's diagnostic procedures do not behave like an independent-suspension vehicle.
Slickrock, ledges, sand and 100-plus degree summers load Wrangler steering, suspension and cooling in ways highway miles never will, and we service Wranglers for that use. Off-road capability is not a Jeep-only conversation here, and our off-road and 4x4 work on Broncos, lifted trucks, and off-road SUVs covers the rest.
Digital vehicle inspections with photos, shuttle service, after-hours drop-off and pickup, two-way texting and online booking are available to make every visit convenient.
Death wobble diagnosis is one of the most common reasons a Wrangler comes to MST Motorsports: the front axle shakes side to side after the vehicle hits a seam or a bump at highway speed. It is measurable, and it is diagnosable.
It is a system problem rather than a single-part problem, because play in one component lets the axle move and that movement loads the next. The usual contributors are the track bar and its bushings, tie rod and drag link ends, ball joints, control arm bushings, a worn steering box, wheel bearings, and tires that are out of balance or improperly seated on the wheel.
Our technicians inspect the front end methodically and under load, document what they find with photos in your digital inspection, and replace the worn parts. A steering stabilizer damps the motion while the wear continues, so the worn part is what gets replaced. The repair finishes with a Hunter Hawkeye Elite alignment and Road Force balancing so it holds.
The Wrangler's solid front axle is located by control arms and centered by a track bar, and every joint in that system affects how the Jeep tracks, returns to center and holds an alignment. Trail use at Sand Hollow accelerates all of it.
We replace and upgrade track bars and track bar brackets, and install adjustable control arms so caster can be corrected on a lifted Jeep. We also service tie rod ends, drag links, ball joints, unit bearings, sway bar links, and electronic and manual sway bar disconnects. Steering box play and loose sector shafts are corrected as part of the same work.
We also rebuild shocks in house — Fox, King, Elka and Walker Evans. Full detail lives on our Jeep suspension repair page.
A lifted Wrangler is a vehicle with new geometry that has to be set correctly and then maintained. Caster changes, driveshaft angles change, the track bar no longer centers the axle where it did, brake lines and bump stops need verification, and heavier tires load the steering harder.
We install lift kits and we maintain lifts installed elsewhere, and either way the work covers control arm geometry, track bar correction, driveline angle checks, brake line clearance, bump stop setup and a full alignment on Hunter Hawkeye Elite equipment. Tires are Road Force balanced, which resolves most highway vibration complaints on 35-inch and 37-inch tires.
If your Wrangler is already built, our maintenance for lifted and modified vehicles covers how routine service changes once a vehicle is off stock ride height.
Cooling system service on a Wrangler matters most in July, when crawling a trail means high engine load, low vehicle speed and almost no airflow through the radiator. A heavy build, larger tires and a full load of gear narrow the margin further.
We service and repair radiators, cooling fans and fan clutches, thermostats, water pumps, hoses and coolant on Wranglers, and evaluate the system against your actual duty cycle. Towing and a heavy build are part of that assessment.
Scheduled Wrangler maintenance covers oil and filter service, brake service, differential and transfer case fluids, transmission service, belts and hoses, batteries and diagnostics. JK, JL and 4xe each follow the intervals their own platform calls for, including the 4xe's separate hybrid cooling and transmission requirements. Engine-specific figures for the 3.6L are in our 3.6L Pentastar service interval article, and the model-level schedule is in our Jeep Wrangler maintenance schedule.
Every service or repair includes a digital vehicle inspection with photos and video sent to your phone. Qualifying automotive repairs are backed by our 36-month/36,000-mile nationwide warranty on parts and labor. Financing is available on qualifying service through Acima, Affirm, Klarna, Sunbit, Synchrony Car Care and Snap Finance, including larger repairs and upgrades.
A trail-readiness check is available before a weekend at Sand Hollow, Hurricane Cliffs or a run out toward Virgin and Leeds. It covers the front end and steering, ball joints and bushings, shock condition and mounting hardware, brakes, driveline angles and u-joints, tires, fluids and cooling.
Digital vehicle inspections with photos are included with every service and repair. We are open Mon–Fri: 8:00am – 5:00pm, with shuttle service, after-hours drop-off and pickup, and online booking available. Call (435) 256-8899 or .
Death wobble is a side-to-side shake of the front axle, usually triggered by a bump or expansion joint at highway speed, and it is almost never one part. The common contributors are a worn track bar or track bar bushing, loose tie rod and drag link ends, worn ball joints, a loose steering box, worn control arm bushings, and out-of-balance or improperly seated tires. Lifted Wranglers are more prone to it because the changed geometry loads those components harder. We inspect the entire front end under load, identify every worn component and correct the cause rather than masking it with a heavier steering stabilizer.
No. A steering stabilizer is a damper rather than a repair, and it can quiet a mild shake while the worn component continues to degrade. We identify and replace the loose or worn part first, and replace the stabilizer as part of the repair when it is worn as well.
Yes. We service Wrangler JK (2007–2018), JL (2018–present) and the 4xe plug-in hybrid. Our factory-trained, certified technicians follow the platform-specific service procedures, torque specifications and diagnostic routines each model calls for, including the high-voltage precautions the 4xe requires. Powertrain, brake, cooling, steering and suspension service is handled the same way on every Wrangler.
Yes. Lifting a solid-axle Wrangler changes caster, thrust angle and steering geometry, which shows up as wander, poor steering return and uneven tire wear. We align on top-of-the-line Hunter Hawkeye Elite equipment and set caster through adjustable control arms and the track bar, not toe alone. We also Road Force balance the tires, which matters more on heavy off-road tires than on street tires.
For Wranglers that regularly run Sand Hollow, Hurricane Cliffs and the surrounding desert, we recommend a front-end and suspension inspection every 15,000 to 25,000 miles, plus a trail-readiness check before a long trip. Every service visit includes a digital inspection with photos sent to your phone.
Yes. Low-speed trail crawling in summer heat combines high engine load with almost no airflow through the radiator, which is the hardest duty a Wrangler cooling system sees. We service and repair radiators, cooling fans and fan clutches, thermostats, water pumps and hoses, and perform coolant service on the schedule the platform calls for. Towing and a heavy build raise the demand on the system, and it is evaluated against that duty cycle.
Yes. Lifted and modified Wranglers are routine work here, including in-house shock rebuilds for Fox, King, Elka and Walker Evans. See our maintenance for lifted and modified vehicles page for how routine service changes on a built Wrangler.
Timing depends on the work involved and on what the inspection finds. Shuttle service, after-hours drop-off and pickup, and two-way texting are available to keep the visit convenient.
